Emotions are a Tool?

You mean this isn't all just happening TO me? The things I feel mean something? Esther Hicks explains how meaningful our emotions are as a 'spiritual being'. That we should always acknowledge and evaluate how we feel. To move away from negative emotions toward ideas that make us feel better, lighter, more 'aligned'. They show us how to use the 'Emotional Scale' as a tool. When you feel bad, say depressed, you're not just gonna leap to the top of the emotional scale and just BE joyful. You have to make your way through the process, UP the emotional scale. Esther's method is to take 17 seconds to focus on the emotion just higher than the one you're feeling. Here's the scale and my interpretation of how to use it as a tool:

From the book “Ask and It is Given”, pg. 114
1. Joy/Appreciation/Empowered/Freedom/Love
2. Passion
3. Enthusiasm/Eagerness/Happiness
4. Positive Expectation/Belief
5. Optimism
6. Hopefulness
7. Contentment
8. Boredom
9. Pessimism
10. Frustration/Irritation/Impatience
11. Overwhelment
12. Disappointment
13. Doubt
14. Worry
15. Blame
16. Discouragement
17. Anger
18. Revenge
19. Hatred/Rage
20. Jealousy
21. Insecurity/Guilt/Unworthiness
22. Fear/Grief/Depression/Despair/Powerlessness

Lets say you're feeling pretty low, the ugly green envy monster is grumbling inside. Maybe your spouse flirted with another person, or a coworker got the promotion you were expecting. You dont want to dwell or push it down further. Its time to deal with it. You wouldn't just fake it and try to feel happy. You have to process the emotion, and ideally learn your 'lesson' from the experience.

Youre feeling Jealous on this scale. Its time to start moving UP. You would take 17 seconds to concentrate on how much you hate this person or situation... IF it makes you feel better. Once you've raised up to that energy, you would then take another 17 seconds to focus on all the things you could do to get revenge. and if this feels good (and you dont get stuck here for the next hour) you could take another 17 seconds to move into anger. And so on up the scale, until you've gotten back to joy.

They explain that in 68 seconds you will have moved your vibration to a higher level.
In this video, Esther goes through a complete cycle of this 17 to 68 second process. If youve ever given yourself a peptalk, you might relate to just how easy this can be. When you hear her explanation of why to do this, you may never dwell again. Start at about 6 minutes

one more runthrough from Esther on how to change your frame of mind...

There are a few more 'fragments' ive heard that really caused me to take notice.

This is a great video, I love how Jim Carrey is bringing this to bigger audiences and adding some well deserved humor to the subject, but at 7:34 in the video, a man says the following:
"Negative Experiences will repeat for as long as they remain useful to you. Then you have to say 'what is useful to you'. If something pisses you off, then youre getting use out of it because its co-creating an emotional reaction. So if you can learn to have this ballet dance of Karma, where experiences move through you without getting stuck to you, and you bless, and you release, and you forgive, and you accept, and you love. Then more and more those experiences wont repeat anymore because you're not gonna get any value out of them. So the focus that you hold in your life determines how your reality turns out. You can intend an entirely different life for yourself."

This one floored me. RIGHT AFTER they talked about how humans want to compartmentalize life, how we need step by step instructions (which is what im doing here) Lee Carroll (Kryon) in the movie 'Tuning In' tells us exactly how to go about changing our lives. at 5:21 in the video below he says the following:

"Theres only one question that you should ask. Its the fast track to spirituality, the fast track to getting what it is that you have come for... Whatever is before you, and whatever challenges are there, the fast track to all that is - to get into a meditative state with pure intent, and say to god, to spirit, 'I love you, I know youre there, show me what it is I need to know.' then dont expect an answer to fall upon you in a physical way. But instead expect that you have connected to what seems to be the chaos of the system of the universe. Connected in such a way that the synchronicity will begin to appear in your lives like little open doors here and there, to guide you to the places that will answer the questions that you would have had otherwise."
